Flatcall Poker T-Shirts

My friends just launched a new T-Shirt line, FLATCALL.

If you're a poker fan, a poker player or just enjoy a nice new trendy T-shirt here and there, check out their new line here: FLATCALL.

What is poker?
"Poker is everything. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions where you can go from top dog to broke in minutes. Where demographics are hardly a consideration, where you could turn a single paycheck into a whole lifetimes worth of earnings. Where the highs are limitless and the lows are never-ending." - FLATCALL

A Must Read: Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo

A little boy's astounding story of this trip to heaven and back. (A true story)

"Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear.

Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us.

Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle."

An incredible story.

David Cornfield Melanoma Fund ... Dear 16 Year Old Me

After seeing this post, I had to write a blog about it. I just returned from my younger brother's prom pictures and I can't tell you the number of girls that look like they've been roasting in tanning beds for the past month. I'll be the first one to admit it, I used to go tanning. For about 4 months during college, then I was broke. Not long after that, my dad developed early signs of skin cancer and was soon diagnosed with an early stage of it.

I just want to spread the word about melanoma awareness. Please do the same.

Imperfection is Beauty

These quotes were too long to tweet when #marilynmonroe was trending on Wednesday. But, in celebration of what would have been the icon's 85th birthday I put together a few of my favorites.

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous that absolutely boring."

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."

"If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything."

"It's better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you're not"

"You never know what life is like, until you have lived it."

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."

"We should all start to live before we get too old. Fear is stupid. So are regrets."

My fabulous new nail polish

It's been a while so instead of letting my blog fall into the black hole (like my previous 5,683 blogs did), I'll write about this fabulous new nail polish I just put on.

Part of Orly's new Cosmic FX Collection: Space Cadet

* Pardon my unprofessional camera phone photos *

It's really cool looking though ... with a purple, green, teal sparkle. I love it. Bravo, Orly, Bravo!

As I Jump on the Twilight Bandwagon ...

I stumbled across a Twilight book last week and decided to take a stab at understanding this whole vampire thing. To my surprise, as I started reading -- I quickly found myself intrigued with every aspect of the book. (I know vampires aren't real, but imagine if they were?) I was mesmerized by Bella and Edward and their level of love and affection for one another. Do people really feel that way about one another? Can they? Is it possible? Being so... over the top in love with someone (and to know that he isn't even a human?)

Okay, so like many other Twilight fans, I became (just shy of) obsessed with this book. I was able to feel the characters, picture their life, and be a part of the story. Before I knew it, I was 500 pages deep and quickly finished with the book (thank goodness there are 3 more).

So I went to Blockbuster last night to rent Twilight (Yes, blockbuster is still in existence -- as of right now), volunteered my sister to spend a couple hours on the couch with me and sat down to watch this great vampire, love story.

FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL.

Are these people serious?

I know the movie is never as good as the book and I wasn't expecting it to be, but where is the story line? Where is the passion? Where is the convincing love and affection?

Scenes cut in half, important details left out (that couldn't be left to the imagination), choppy plots, etc.

I couldn't help but be entirely disappointed. Thank goodness I read the book first. If you haven't jumped on the Twilight bandwagon and are considering doing so in the near future, I highly recommend not watching the movie first (or at all).

Summer time

Time really does fly. I ended up falling behind on my blog posts (once again). I can't tell you how many times I've tried to maintain a personal blog.

Let's see, two weddings, my birthday, 3 jobs later -- summer is officially here -- where does the time go? Summer Fridays makes the week that much crazier, more to do in less time. I wish my job gave me Summer Fridays, but I guess when you work for yourself there really isn't time for that ;) I have enough trouble managing everything as it is!

Books!

So I was on Twitter yesterday and saw the trending topic of #WorldBookDay! I realized I need to start reading again. I love chick-lit, pretty much any type of mystery and romance books always get me too, but I can only handle so much of those - Love James Patterson and Jackie Collins. I don't really have a specific genre that I stick to so this is my list as of right now, feel free to suggest any good books!

Jackie Collins - Poor Little Bitch Girl
Kate White - If Looks Could Kill
Kate White - A Body To Die For
Kate White - 'Til Death Do Us Part
Kate White - Over Her Dead Body (only one my library had, so had to start with this one)
Kate White - Lethally Blond
Kate White - Hush
Nicholas Sparks
- Dear John
James Patterson
- Worst Case
Lauren Conrad - L.A. Candy (ordered this)
James Patterson (and Michael Ledwidge) - Run For Your Life
Michael Lewis - The Blind Side

Online Shopping

I think I have a problem. Not a serious, 'need help' problem - although Kim Kardashian's family organized an intervention for her - it's just a small problem.

ONLINE SHOPPING

Okay, so ever since Cyber Monday started I think people realized this was truly effective. I have two favorite websites that I check daily with all the best sales/promotions/deals. I started with slickdeals.net. One of my roommates introduced this to me a couple of years ago and I've purchased a number of things that were listed on this site. They also have contests and coupons and the whole "shabang."

Next = dealsplus! Okay you really need to check out this website: http://dealspl.us/
I just recently stumbled across this one, and wow! Slickdeals x 20! Unfortunately, this has occasionally led me to buy things I don't need (another problem with online shopping).

Of course once you find the great deals, the next step is coupon codes. Many people have heard of RetailMeNot, which provides tons and tons of coupon codes! Combine your sale item with a coupon code and voila!

Okay, get shopping! :)
